Rehearsing for The Armed Man, June 2022

We've Changed Our Name!

Remember how you loved singing at school? Well South Oxfordshire Choir is just the place to find your voice again!

We’ve been around for a while, performing all kinds of gorgeous music as Cranford Choral Society. But now we’ve changed our name – to reach out to singers of all ages and abilities from right across the region.

We’re a friendly bunch, with different levels of ability, and there’s no audition before you join. But while we have a lot of fun, we’re also passionate about getting better. We want to make South Oxfordshire Choir the go-to place for people who love to sing. Why not give us a go…and see if it feels just as good as ever…

And we have a new Music Director - Benjamin Sheen

As part of our ‘re-birth’, we’re very excited that Benjamin Sheen has joined us.

Benjamin is sub-organist at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford, and one of the UK’s brightest young organists. He has won major prizes at prestigious organ competitions around the world and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

A former chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, he has trained, rehearsed and conducted many choirs, including the famous Oxford Bach Choir.

When and Where Do We Meet?

We sing together every Monday from 8 to 9.30 pm, rehearsing for our regular concerts. We have a superb place to meet, and it’s easy to park: The Theatre at Moulsford Prep School OX10 9HR, just outside Wallingford.

Rehearsals restarted on Monday 5th September. We are learning (or re-learning) Fauré's gorgeous Requiem and Haydn's Little Organ Mass in B flat major ready for our winter concert on Saturday, 26 November in St Mary's Church, Cholsey. Why not try us out in September. There’s no commitment if you don’t enjoy it.
